Aung San Suu Kyi Act 2009
An act to respond to the ongoing illegal detention of Aung San Suu Kyi and the ongoing persecution of the legitimate and popularly elected government of the Union of Burma by the criminal military regime led by dictator Than Shwe.
Section 1.
1. The Republic of Lavalon recognises the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma as the legitimately empowered spokesbody and dejure government of Burma.
2. The Republic of Lavalon recognises Aung San Suu Kyi as the legitimate and popularly elected leader of Burma.
3. The Republic of Lavalon considers the defacto regime led by Than Shwe to be a criminal organisation.
Section 2.
1. Any person who conspires with or aids the criminal regime of Than Shwe in it’s detention of Aung San Suu Kyi is guilty of a criminal offense within the Republic of Lavalon.
2. Any person who conspires to or aids in the supression of the democracy movement of Burma is guily of an offense within the Republic of Lavalon.
3. All members, employees or representatives of the criminal regime of Than Shwe are persona non grata within the Republic of Lavalon.
Proclamation
On this 23rd day of July, the Provisional Committee for Lavalon does hereby proclaim that:
i. The Lavalonian micronation shall be organised as a Republic.
ii. The following are entitled to exercise citizenship within the Republic:
Every person who was a subject of the Principality of Lavalon;
Every person who was a citizen of any Republic of Lavalon established prior to today;
Any foreigner who is accepted by a consensus of citzens.
iii. Sovereignty of the republic emanates from the people.
iii. The Consul shall be elected by the citizens of the Republic.
iv. The Senate shall pass the laws of the Republic. The Senate shall consist of all Lavaonian citizens, until the Senate is able to make further provision for the election or appointment Senators.
v. Until countermanded by the Senate, the Consul shall issue such orders as prove necessary for the good governance of the Republic.
vi. The code of civil and criminal laws shall be uniform throughout the Republic.
vii. There shall be a system of voluntary taxation as determined by the Senate. The consul shall have an extra-ordinary duty to contribute to the expenses of the Republic, levied at no less than ten dollars a month.
The Provisional Committee for Lavalon is now dissolved. Jason Mckerra shall serve as provisional Consul of the Republic until such time as elections are practicable, or six months have passed, whichever is sooner.
