A bill to authorize expenditure for a New Years mail out to all citizens.
1. The Consul is authorized to draw twenty dollars from the Republic’s account for the purposes of mailing a 2009 New Years letter all citizens.
The Ministry of Language has completed an analysis of the information on languages provided by Lavalonian citizens.
It is our pleasure to publish the following information on language usage in the Republic of Lavalon.
There are currently seventeen citizens of the Republic of Lavalon, sixteen of whom have provided the government with information on their spoken languages.
We are unable to assess the degrees of fluency with which second languages are spoken, as no information on degree of fluency iss collected in citizenship applications.
1. There shall be a Ministry for Language, to be headed by a Minister for Language, who shall in turn act under the direction of the Consul.
2. The Ministry of Language shall:
a. Promote interest in languages within the Republic of Lavalon;
b. Progressively work to make the Republic of Lavalon welcoming and accessible to a range of non-english speakers;
c. Promote community and cultural activities in a multilingual setting.

Resolution of the Senate of Lavalon
adopted 21 November 2009Noting that:
Three hundred thousand Tamils are being held in internment camps indefinitely by the Sri Lankan government;
Despite the supposed end of the civil war, Tamils face persecution and discrimination in Sri Lanka;
In the face of these circumstances, Tamil people of Sri Lanka are within their rights under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1951 UN refugee convention to seek protection as refugees;
Therefore the Republic of Lavalon;
Condemns the government of Sri Lanka for it’s discrimination against and persecution of the Tamil minority;
Calls upon all peace loving nations to withdraw financial and diplomatic support for the Sri Lankan government until such a time as all internment camps are closed and those being held are freed;
Calls upon all territorial states to uphold their obligations under the UN Refugee Convention 1951;
Condemns the governments of Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia for their inhumane treatment of Tamil Refugees;
Calls for the immediate closure of Refugee detention camps in Australia and Indonesia; and calls upon those countries, especially Australia, to respect the rights of refugees;
Calls upon all micro and macro nations to work towards a world without borders.
The Republic of Lavalon formally recognizes the legitimacy and micronational sovereignty of the Kingdom of Novaltia.
The Republic of Lavalon will pursue further cooperation and a formal diplomatic relationship with the Kingdom of Novaltia.

Aung San Suu Kyi Act 2009
An act to respond to the ongoing illegal detention of Aung San Suu Kyi and the ongoing persecution of the legitimate and popularly elected government of the Union of Burma by the criminal military regime led by dictator Than Shwe.
Section 1.
1. The Republic of Lavalon recognises the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma as the legitimately empowered spokesbody and dejure government of Burma.
2. The Republic of Lavalon recognises Aung San Suu Kyi as the legitimate and popularly elected leader of Burma.
3. The Republic of Lavalon considers the defacto regime led by Than Shwe to be a criminal organisation.
Section 2.
1. Any person who conspires with or aids the criminal regime of Than Shwe in it’s detention of Aung San Suu Kyi is guilty of a criminal offense within the Republic of Lavalon.
2. Any person who conspires to or aids in the supression of the democracy movement of Burma is guily of an offense within the Republic of Lavalon.
3. All members, employees or representatives of the criminal regime of Than Shwe are persona non grata within the Republic of Lavalon.
