Senators,

The government intends to post a letter to all citizens, reflecting on the achievements of the past year and highlighting the opportunities and challenges that face the Republic in the coming year.

In the past all such mailouts were paid for "out of pocket" by the Consul, but the Republic has a growing number of citizens and the cost of such mailouts is no longer inconsequential.

Quote
Appropriations (New Years mail out) Act 2009

A bill to authorize expenditure for a New Years mail out to all citizens.

1. The Consul is authorized to draw twenty dollars from the Republic's account for the purposes of mailing a 2009 New Years letter all citizens.
I commend the bill to the house.

With three votes in favour and none against, the measure is adopted.
