Hows this for stupidity:

Here in Australia an indigenous movie, Stonefest, has scored an MA15+ rating because it depicts marijuana consumption. One of the characters is perpetually stoned, it is after all a story about two young aboriginal men in northern Australia.

It's a pretty tame road trip movie, but one of them smokes some dope, MA15+.

Lets compare this to an American film, it's about beer. It's called Beerfest. It's about young white men who consume absurd amounts of beer in a variety of drinking games. If young people were to emulate what they see in this film, they would end up dead.

Beerfest also gets an MA15+ rating, but the office of film and literature classification makes clear that this has nothing to do with encouraging and celebrating behavior that could kill people. Oh no, Beerfest has a sex scene in it.

If you do what the boys do in Stone Bros you will end up stoned, if you do what the boys do in Beerfest, you will end up dead.

If beerfest didn't have a sex scene, it would score a paltry M rating. Because beer might be dangerous, but white men drink it so it must be ok.
