There has been some media coverage of the recent conference on micronations in Sydney. Lavalon participated, and gets a brief mention in this article by the BBC's Phil Mercer.

Quote
The Republic of Lavalon was established by Jason McKerra, a welfare worker, following the Australian government’s decision to storm a Norwegian freighter, which had rescued hundreds of mainly Afghan asylum-seekers in the Indian Ocean in 2001.

This is surely good publicity for the micro-nation of Lavalon.  Also it was interesting to learn about the other Australia-based micro-nations mentioned in the article.

I just did an interview for an Irish radio station, about micronations, the conference and the Republic of Lavalon. I gave lavalon.info a good big plug!

Lavalon gets a brief mention in this column by Mark Dapin, it's in the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Weekend magazine today.
